Smile Makeover FAQs

Does a Smile Makeover Hurt?

It doesn’t matter which cosmetic service you choose; you can trust that our dentists will ensure your safety and comfort throughout the entire process. With local anesthesia, veneers, metal-free dental restorations, and gum recontouring/crown lengthening, there is no discomfort. Teeth whitening and cosmetic dental bonding don’t require anesthesia, as they do not require tooth alteration or gum removal.

Once the anesthesia wears off, you may experience slight discomfort and sensitivity, which will be temporary and can be alleviated with pain medications.

How Many Treatments Can You Include in a Smile Makeover?

Smile makeovers in Commack typically include at least two services but can expand to several more based on your aesthetic needs. Some of the treatment options that can be included are:

  • Veneers
  • Metal-free dental restorations
  • Cosmetic dental bonding
  • Teeth whitening
  • Gum recontouring/Crown lengthening

Some dentists may even include dental implants or orthodontics as part of a smile makeover.

How Long is a Smile Makeover?

Our cosmetic dentist will determine the timeframe for your smile makeover in Commack during your consultation. Each case is unique, which is why a set price or duration cannot be provided without meeting with a member of our team.

Smile makeovers vary in length depending on the services included. Also, the state of your current smile can dictate how long we expect treatment to take.

If you consider the different cosmetic solutions available, it’s not uncommon for a smile makeover to last anywhere from a few weeks to a year or more.

Is a Smile Makeover Covered by Insurance?

Smile makeovers primarily consist of cosmetic services, which means they’re unlikely to be covered by dental insurance. There are exceptions, however, if a treatment is necessary to improve your oral health (i.e., metal-free dental restoration, crown lengthening).

At Silfa Dental, we will do our best to identify ways to use your dental benefits, if possible, so that you can save on out-of-pocket costs. Otherwise, we will discuss how you can still keep your expenses low with flexible financing through CareCredit, Cherry, Proceed Finance, and LendingPoint. We also have an in-house membership plan you can enroll in for a single fee. This offers you preventive services and discounts on other available treatments.
